Rejuvenation Treatments
Acne
About this treatment
Acne is a common skin condition that can affect the face, chest, and back, causing pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and sometimes deeper cysts or nodules. It can be triggered by hormonal changes, excess oil production, bacteria, or clogged pores, and if left untreated, may lead to scarring and uneven skin texture. Professional acne treatments aim to reduce breakouts, calm inflammation, and prevent future flare-ups. Depending on your skin type and severity, treatments may include prescription topical therapies, chemical peels, microneedling, or tailored skincare regimens. With the right approach, acne can be controlled, skin texture improved, and confidence restored.
Types of scars
Boxed Scars
These may be shallow or deep and are usually found on the cheeks or the temples. Sometimes they resemble chicken pox scars as they tend to be angular with sharp vertical edges
Rolling Scars
Theses are caused by damage under the surface of the skin. They are usually wide and shallow giving a wave like appearance.
Ice Pick Scars
These are a very common type of acne scarring. They give the appearance of the skin being picked with ice. They are usually less than 2mm across.
Hypertrophic Scars
Hypertrophic scars are those in which excess scar tissue forms at the site of the injury, which presents as a raised region of fibrous and firm scar tissue.
Treatments for scaring
A chemical peel reacts with the very top layer of the skin causing it to come away, a healthier, smoother and a blemish free complexion underneath. As the skin heals, new cells are made and there is greater collagen production resulting in a youthful and rejuvenated look. Combining this with a dermaroller treatment results in even greater cell growth and reorganisation of the skin, leading to healthier skin layers.
A fine needle is used to inject filler into the atrophic scar to lift the depression. Many of fillers can be used and are not usually permanent. The procedure is usually painless as local anaesthetic is applied in advance.
The medical dermaroller uses a special micro needling process to stimulate the of the body’s own collagen. The new collagen fibres thicken the skin and fill atrophic scars.
Skin boosters are injected into the dermis of the skin. It restores hydrobalance of the skin, plumps up acne scarring, improves elasticity and structure. Usually 3 to 4 treatments are needed every four weeks. Full results are usually obtained after all the sessions are completed.
